Had to re-wrap the handlebars and re-cover the shifters with new rubber hoods. Hopefully I won’t have any scars □ Bike was relatively entact. I either was the victim of post-Irene road debris or fainted (I favor the latter explanation, because I was light headed before I went down, even if that sound “girly” for me.).Īnd, yes, it hurts! I’m dressing it with Bacitracin to avoid infection and loosely bandaging with guaze. At least nothing I ever saw on a baby’s bum! I can assure you….with the exception of the thigh, this has no resemblance to diaper rash. I skidded on my bike yesterday while going 18mph on a straightaway in the Hamptons, found my body skidding on the road, and got what is callded “road rash.” But if you ever have, there’s no doubt that at one point or another you’ve seen something called diaper “rash.” After cleaning your wound, rinse it with water, dry it, and apply more ointment. Use soap and a clean cloth to gently clear away antibiotic ointments, scabs, and loose tissue. I don’t know how many of you have had a baby or ever changed a diaper. While caring for road rash, make sure that you remove your old dressings and replace your bandages at least once a day.
